Mahabs Surf & Stay is built around more than surfing — it’s about challenge, persistence, and the quiet pride that comes with learning something new. The brand needed to reflect this spirit while still feeling welcoming, grounded, and timeless. Our task was to create an identity that captured the energy of surf culture without turning it into a cliché.

The Challenge & Positioning Surf stays often fall into familiar visual tropes — loud graphics, aggressive energy, or overly resort-like aesthetics. Mahabs needed a brand that felt authentic and experiential, not performative. The challenge was to strike a balance: Adventurous, but not intimidating; Heritage-driven, but not dated; Aspirational, yet approachable. We positioned Mahabs as a place where surfing meets legacy — a stay that celebrates the journey as much as the wave.
Process & Approach The identity was shaped by the location, the pace of the experience, and the people who come to Mahabs — beginners, explorers, and those drawn to the discipline of surfing rather than spectacle. Visually, we focused on restraint and texture. A hand-drawn, imperfect type treatment brought in a human, lived-in feel. The colour palette stayed coastal and grounded, allowing imagery and motion to carry emotion. The logo system was designed to work across environments — signage, digital, merchandise, and on-ground applications — without losing character. Every element was tested for real use, ensuring the brand felt natural whether seen on a surfboard, a cap, or a large-format installation.
Outcome & Impact The final identity feels confident without trying too hard. It reflects the experience honestly — calm, challenging, and memorable. Mahabs Surf & Stay now has a brand that invites people in, sets the right expectations, and builds connection before a single wave is ridden.
